Herbert W. Thompson CSEM Alumni Symposium

The Annual Herbert W. Thompson CSEM Alumni Symposium

The 2 nd Annual Herbert W. Thompson CSEM Alumni Symposium

(Formally The Annual Science Alumni Symposium)

The Annual Herbert W. Thompson CSEM Alumni Symposium is an annual event that is

held during Bethune-Cookman University’s Homecoming Week. After being

held for over 22 years, the symposium was recently renamed after its founder,

Dr. Herbert W. Thompson, the retired Dean of the College of Science,

Engineering, and Mathematics (CSEM).

Each year distinguished graduates of the various majors within the CSEM are

invited back to campus to meet current students and present to them

information about careers in science. More importantly, they offer advice based

on their own experiences at BCU and their individual pathways to success. The

panel discussion with each graduate telling his/her story, followed by questions

and answers has proven to be an effective source of motivation for the students

and an opportunity for graduates to contribute to student success. The

Symposium has welcomed graduates representing such fields as medicine,

research, dentistry, pharmacy, computer engineering, environmental science,

chiropractic, wellness and many more.

The symposium also provides an opportunity for faculty (both active and

retired) to reacquaint themselves with former students and colleagues. The

Faculty, Staff, and Students are looking forward to greeting Science Alumni and

friends in the true spirit of Homecoming.
