Reverend Dr. Randolph Bracy, Jr. Endowed Scholarship

Reverend Dr. Randolph Bracy, Jr. was not only an esteemed alumnus of this university, but he was also the pioneering Dean of the School of Religion—a role in which his leadership and vision mirrored the magnificence of our institution’s grandest ambitions. 

Dr. Bracy walked the grounds of Bethune Cookman with a profound sense of purpose. As a student, he absorbed the teachings and ethos that would become the bedrock of his influential career—a career marked by an unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and service. He was a civil rights activist not just in title but in action, leading the Orange County branch of the NAACP with an ardent determination to realize the dream of a fair and equitable society. 

His impact on the communities he served cannot be overstated. Dr. Bracy worked tirelessly, fostering change, nurturing hope, and empowering lives. He understood that to teach was to touch the future, and so he poured his wisdom and compassion into his students, knowing that they, too, would go on to shape the world. 

Beyond his public persona, he was a family man who cherished his loved ones with the same passion he dedicated to his calling. Yet, his love for Bethune-Cookman University stood unique—a beacon that illuminated his path. He embraced the students, the alumni base, the mission, and, most importantly, the vision of our founder, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. He lived by her belief that education was the key to unlocking potential and breaking down barriers. 

Reverend Dr. Randolph Bracy, Jr. was a beacon for us all, a towering presence whose legacy will continue to inspire us to be and be better. As we navigate this loss, let us carry forward his undying love for this institution and for the principles that he championed throughout his admirable life. Let us honor him by living up to the very ideals he upheld and by continuing the work he so bravely advanced. 

Dr. Bracy, has made an indelible mark on our hearts and on the fabric of Bethune-Cookman University. We may honor his memory by being the bearers of his legacy—today, tomorrow, and for all the days to come.
